bathing

I have a dilemma. When Caesar was at his previous home, he took showers once a week with his owner. I've had him a month and a half and I cant get him to take a shower, a bath, or even mist him with a bottle. He runs away scared to death. I tried again yesterday and after he ran from me he went into his cage. I gave him a pecan, his most favorite thing in the world, to basically tell him I was sorry I scared him. When I mist him, or at least TRY, I point it in the air and let the water fall on him but he hates it. I dont understand why he showered with his previous owner but it seems he's scared of water to me. I thought about taking his playstand into my bathroom while I shower and let him watch me several times, thinking maybe he'd get the idea. I'm nost sure what else to do. Any other suggestions, or do you think this might work? I'm stumped. And quite frankly, he's getting pretty musky. He definitely needs it.

Try using a shower perch for him to stand on when you take him in the shower with you..and I don't understand what you mean by he runs away..Like how could he if you have the bathroom door closed ??? Please give some more info...

I can't say that any of my 'zons are crazy about showering. What I do is put them in the kitchen sink and use the sprayer. They have to be "encouraged" to stay there, otherwise they'll hop out and go on their merry, dripping way.

I even go NEAR the bathroom and he flies off. I dont even get a chance to get the door closed. When trying to use a spray bottle, he sees the bottle and runs the opposite direction. I tried putting a pan of water down, and he flew off and then ran. Its like he's completely afraid of water. I bought a shower perch but since he wont go near the bathroom it hasn't been used yet. His play gym came from his previous owner too and they used to have it in the bathroom while the owner was getting ready for wor. I thought maybe since he was familiar with it already it might help.

Ahh yes- my guy has to be "in the mood" and thats very very very very rare...
Try a plant mister- its a much finer mist- plop him in the shower- towel him adn just plop him down... he might decide that after you are really NOT trying to drown him he might like it. If its a nice warm day out, try bathing him under the hose- my caique LOOOOVES his hose bathes...
Otherwise- gently mist wether he likes it or not- thats what I do... you have to, or they would never get clean. Kind of like a stubborn little kid that doesnt want to take a bath, LOL.
Ohh- run the vaccum. That gets my CAG and caique in the mood about 70 percent of the time....might work.
