Mating Amazons Litter Box

I am new to breeding Amazons But I have noticed something very strange about my Lilac crowns. They have been Mating now for about a month and there first eggs are due to hatch in about 5 days. The birds Do evrey thing they can not to poop in the cage. They will poop in there Food dishes I think because they know they will be cleaned? Lately they have only been pooping in the fresh veggie dish that is the one that gets changed most often.??? I change their Cage bottom every day but they do not want to Poo there? Any one have the Same problem ?

...they want to keep the nest clean...my 'tiel does that when she sits eggs...

...I don't know that they'll defecate in the water dish or other bowls on purpose, or whether it's personal preference...

Frankly I'm clueless but if your theory is correct, isn't that totally fascinating? They never cease to amaze me. Clever little darlings.

Amazons who keep theri nests clean

Hi,
Congratulations on having fastidious Lilac crowns who are clean and neat.
You are very lucky. We have have had some that squirt outside the flight. That makes for a real mess.
Best of luck with the babies. Im sure your pair will be wonderful parents.
