amazonsss

Greetings to all! My name is Max. I have some parrots. Among which these amazons. I have already achieved duplication senegal parrots, pionus, and other parrots. As I live in Russia (know, here to live very badly) that cultivation of parrots - heavy employment. But it simply my hobby. Soon I shall leave for London and some birds will move with me. At me a question: why orange wing amazons are not engaged in sex ? Conditions I have created all. At me pair birds. male - 4 years, female - 3 years. They like to scratch heads each other. Sometimes male feeds female. But to a jack do not react. Why? (excuse for my English, I live in Russia)

Max, good luck with your move to London (or is it a trip) ?

Did you find employment there?

How many birds will you take with you....will they make you quarantine them??

I love your choice of words, they are quite different ~ but equally convey your thoughts.

I would think some Zon people could answer you questions, so we'll see :)

Best luck :)

Max, the amazons might be too young. Maybe they need to be a year older. Also, are they sexed properly? Are you sure that one is a male and one is a female? Have you had them sexed at the vet or DNA sexed?

Might be that they are too young for another year or two.

Hi Max,

I agree it sounds like your birds are still too young. 3 & 4 years of age is still rather young for an amazon

So how did you manage to get past all the EU hoopla to get permission to bring your parrots into London with you? I was under the understanding that the UK only allowed like Budgies, Tiels & Canaries into the country.

Well Good luck with your move!

I think they may just need a bit more time, From what I know sexual maturaity is reached at about 3-4 years old, and the male is usally not fertil until 4 years old. Are you sure of there age? There breeding season is Febuary-June.
