DYH - difference between Magna and Oratix

Can someone explain the difference between the Double Yellow-headed Amazons of Magna type and Oratix type?

I tried googling this and didn't really get an answer. I don't understand. Does anyone know?

And if possible, pics of both types to compare?

I got the impression that Magnas were somehow more desirable?

Magna's are just gorgeous. I know for sure my Paco is not a magna

Speaking of which- is there a DYH subspecies that has very little yellow, even when older? Paco is at least 2 years old and has little yellow on his head compared to others. He has been molting in more this past year, but its still not a whole lot compared to other birds I've seen.

i think the amazons get more and more color as they age. your baby will most likely have a ton more yellow when he reaches 20-30 years of age. the first time i ever really saw a DYH, i saw a young one, under 10 years of age, right next to one that was about 30-40, i didnt even think they were the same type of bird, but they were. the older one was wild caught and had been in the US for at least 30 years, so theres no telling how old he really was. he was beautiful though!! even his black barring on his chest and belly were darker and more pronounced, and he had alot of yellow, although still not enough to be called a magna.

do you have a good pic of him? i would like to see him :) its pretty hard to tell the difference between a DYH and tres marie, but they have subtle differences in markings and color.

OOPS Sorry I ment 20 years, not 2 :) Paco is a wildcaught so his exact age is unknown, but my vet thinks he is more in his 30's.

Harley has a lot more yellow then my Pac Man does ;)

i read about the tres maries a few times. the best website i found even gave good pics of both the tres marie and the DYH. the biggest difference is that the DYHs have alot of the black barrring on their chests and bellies, and the tres maries dont realy have much, if any, barring, and they have a noticeable blue-turquoise tint to their belly feathers. i would have to look it up and see if i can find it again...lemme go look...

here is one site, but there was another one that was really good also:

Tres Marias Amazon species profile

here is another one:

so if I am not mistaken, Paco should be an oratix? They appear to be the ones with the least yellow.
