Smile orange winged amazons

Hello everybody.
My name is Max. I have the pair of orange winged amazons. They are 6-7 (male) and about 8 (female) y.o. Last spring I gave them a box and they was interested of it. But after 2-3 weeks they gave up the box and any more were not interested of it... This spring I want to repeat it but I'll make a big aviary and give them a nest-box more bigger then last one. Before it I shall give during two months many boiled eggs of guinea fowl and "necton" (breeder's helper).
I have experience of breeding senegal parrots and roseneck parakeet. But amazons - never:)
They are 100 male and female, screatch each other and always together. They never quarrel. And they simulate feeding. Why? have no idea. male (Vaka) always simulates feeding but never feed her)...
And I forgot. When they had a nest-box they became very agressive (especially male) bit me and shouted like donkey:) ) some times they attacked me...
So I have a question: what is problem? age? hmmm...
For earlier I thank.
Good mood 4 everyone:)

and sorry about my English. I am russian:)

Hi and welcome.
Orange wings are my FAVORITE amazon. I'm not a breeder, so I dont know what to say in regards to the breeding, but they might be a bit young considering the lifespan of them, and them just being inexperienced at being parronts. hopefully someone with more experience will add their experiences here as well.

Hello Max and welcome.
Hopefully I can be of some help to you... I do breed amazon and have a pair of Orange Wing in my flock along with many other amazons. First off they usually are yearly breeders breeding in the spring, but you knew that. Also my flock have there nestbox year round.... I don't block it off or take it off. I feel it lets them go in and sleep there if they wish. What kind of box do you have for them? I use either the metal "z" box for some of my amazons while my blue front, white front and orange wings have a tall wooden one. This I got from the previous breeder. What kind of bedding do you use for them? I use good old fashion pine shavings and usually put untreated wood blocks in the cage for them to shred up. My amazons are 8 and 10 so it might be that they are a little young and just exploring and figuring out what to do with the box. You might want to try to leave the box on and not block it off. There first clutch of eggs will probably be infertile so don't get discourgaged it takes time. I've had a pair of African Grays for over 5 years and they have not had a fertile clutch yet, but there is always hope. Hope this helps. You can also PM me if you need more help.

Max,. someone actually made my siggy for me since I dont have the softwear to do it.....I think the avatar is a perk for being a BB supporter.
however if you post your questions about that in the Techinical Question area towards the bottom of the forums page, someone can answer you correctly.

My orange wing box is 14" deep by 14" wide by 26" tall. There is about 4" of pine shavings in the bottom and a drop door so I can pull the babies. Also what kind of lighting do you use? Mine have full specturm lights that are on timers that are adjusted threw the year according to season. This along with an increased in nuts and soft food (canned veggies) usually is sucessful. My Orange wings are 8 (female) and 10(male). My Yellow Napes are not 6 and just laid there first clutch, but it was infertile so they may be a little young yet.
