I did!!!!! she is almost 8 I believe Her previous owner had her for 7 years. he felt she needed more attention and of course was glad to give it. She is a very neat little girl. we are still in the getting to u faze, but I think it is going well. she was taught step up very well and rarely refuses She is not much of an eater and i was told she hated water. I have already seen that maynot be the case. I let her come in the bathroom while giving my daughter a bath and she watched from a distance. When done i set her back on cage top where she promptly attempted her own bath in a water crock.
I am not a water bottle fan so i am working on how to go slowly with her and showers. Any ideas???????? she seems to have some words down the best being whatcha doin we are going to hopefully start with i love you which is my favortie thing to say to her because I smile every time i see her!!!!!

alot of zons love the shower!! if you have a shower perch, take her in with you and see how she reacts. put the shower perch on the opposite end of where the water is spraying in case she gets scared. if she acts interested, you can try moving the perch closer to the water, if shes still not scared and acts like she wants to join in, let her!! amazons are fun to watch when they feel like bathing if not, just keep giving her a large dish to bathe in, and maybe one day she will like to join you in the shower :)

Oh, Ri, she is LOVELY!

A shower should be no problem. I take my parrots in all the time and put them on a shower perch on the back end of shower... When they get used to the mist, I bounce spray off my hand so they can bathe. We sing lots of silly songs: "Singing in the Rain" and "Rain Rain Go Away"...anything I can think of that involves water/rain.

I hope you and your "new" baby will be very happy!

Well I think her daddy musta been crazy just took her min to love the shower She just spead the wings and loved it. I warmed up the house so she would not catch a chill and let her play in the water. She has traveled with me to the BF for christmas. She has a total bird crush on him and will do just about anything for him. So we are adjusting well I think more to come Will include some Christmas pics after the holidays she got a hoop ball dont tell her

Sweet Pea update

Well the crush is full blown I am now just the person who only looks but can not touch unless she is on the ground. She is in love with the BF and out of love with me. It is ok this can happen she still gets the same time out of her cage and she is not overly aggresive with me but I am certainly no longer anyone she wants to play with. We still do showers with her mist bottle and i give her her fav treat a bit of the kiddos waffle.

I miss the sweet pea on my shoulder

Is there anything once they have made that choice we can do to change her mind some.

I talk to her sit by her cage and try to make friends and will continue this even if it never works!

She is picking up new words too and that is fun

The BF does not live with me so the head scritches are not daily but once she sees him you would think I had walked in to a jungle all the happy sounds she makes she gets so excited.

I wish she felt like that for me. Darn it. It is ok though. My feelings were a bit hurt but we are family forever now even though she would love to eat me

Ok so now my new thought might be to get another loud mouth in the house some one for her to interect with some. Would this help or not should I just leave it to our daily talks . She is right next to my fav chair so she gets alot of my attention and my daughter just loves to sit and sing to her.

I dont know what have you guys found with your rehomed amazons does another bird help?

one of the best resources i can recommend for behavior problems are the books and dvd's by barbara heidenreich - she successfully works with various animals, and also parrots, using positive reinforcement for behavior modifications....

also, if you search this board, you'll find lots and lots of threads dealing with favoring one person over another ( i've typed my recommendations soo many times already, that i can't motivate myself to do it again, but i'm sure somebody else will )

and also, she's gorgeous
