Tiko update

Thanks to all who assisted me in finding the most wonderful avian vet in the world!! Our visit with her was very enlightening. In all actuality, Tiko didn’t need a wing clip after all, as a matter of fact, she had way too much wing clip when we brought her home from the store. Dr. had to do a little to help Tiko out there.

We ran all the testing needed to find out that Tiko is a healthy bird. Also had the sexing test done, just to see. We don’t know yet, and probably wont for another week or so.

Tiko was quite groggy after the visit, but was very happy to have dinner that night.

Over all, Tiko is healthy, there are some stress bars on her feathers, and some shredding to some feathers as well. We are changing the diet to see if we can get more nutrition into the diet.

Tiko is now back to “normal” and has started family visits with her new carrier. We love it, (thanks Calvins Mom)

Sorry, but I never did get her shoe size, this visit was much too intense!!! I cant even believe how much stress this was for me, let alone my Tiko.

Thanks again to everyone who helped me out with this. Again, still so much to learn, and so much to do.

NO SHOE SIZE????

She also thinks you are a very nice person.

Dr Brown is a wonderful woman isnt she? I just love her. Now you can understand why I sing her praises..........We are very fortuate to have her near by! In fact, I am submitting her name for an award for Veterinarian of the year award.

So now you have to come out to Bird Paradise on Oct 21 to spend the day with us!! Calvins mom, Dr B and many people from here will be there!!!

I'm glad you were happy with the visit....
Some fish tank EH?

F00fighter- You should stop by - it's a great day! Yep - it's in Burlington.

Tiko's mom - glad you loved Dr. Brown - she's a sweetheart. I hope we'll see you on the 21st too along with F00fighter! This could be a great Birdboard day!!

F00fighter - just curious - is there a meaning behind the name? Are you a firefighter? (Sorry, I know this is off topic)

Hi all,

Just checking in. Thanks again for the Dr. Brown info. She was a blessing. Hopefully I will get Tiko’s sexing soon.

Life is going to become extremely busy now as I start school again. Last semester (yippie). Working and schooling full time are pretty intense, but not to worry, Tiko gets lots of love from Daddy.

I am putting Parrot paluza into my calendar, but not sure if I will be able to make the trip.

And a question about that, do the birds come too?

That really was quite a fish tank!!

Thanks again all!!

~Lisa

It is always better to leave the fids home since there is a lot going on that day. Outside birds are not permitted in our aviary so it limits your freedom to roam about the store. Also, when Rocky is in the lecture room, no birds are permitted at the request of his owner, Nikki Moustaki.

Ok, so Tiko stays home that day. No problem. Hopefully I can get there. I think that date is actually between exams, so the chances are indeed better.

And BTW, Just found out Tiko is a GIRL! Yippie!!!
