Water Bottles

I Use Water Bottles With All My 9 Birds They Have No Problems With Learning How To Use Them Since They Are Always Checking Out What I Put In There Cages In A Matter Of Hours They Know Thats Where They Get There Water And Have No Problems Adjusting I Like Them Cause Some Of My Birds Would Take A Bath In There Bowls And When I Would Look A Couple Of Hours Later There Bowls Were Empty Of Water So I Would Recommend The Water Bottles If You Are Going To Be Away From Home For Awhile

I just ordered some Lixit bottles, one for my zon, the other for my tiel. I think my zon will miss the dunking, but I suppose she can do that when she's out on her playstand. Her water just gets so gross during the day!

If I'm away for a few days, I suppose I'd better have the birdsitter make sure that the bottles are actually working!

I highly recommend water bottles for most all pet birds. It is more sanitary, you don't have to change the water every day, is cleaner, you will avoid bacterial infections, no droppings in the water. Only you MUST watch the bird to make sure he/she is actually drinking out of the water bottle. Check the water level often, make sure the paper on the floor is not wet from a defective tip. The bottle must be hooked on the cage properly, or it may drip. Of course, there is always the occasional stuborn bird that will not convert over. 95% of the birds in my house are on water bottles.

Hint: A water bottle tip from a guinea pig bottle fits a wine bottle. Works great for parrots.

We use both & they know the difference ... drink from the bottle, bath in the bowl.
