My rescued grey is a biter but knows what scritches are from his past. I got to do it a few times by putting my one finger in the scritch scritch position if you know what I mean with just one finger curled and my hand in sort of a fist. I just showed it to him not to close but close enough and low and behold he bent his head down and fluffed his neck up for a good scritch. He didnt let me do it for long BUT it allowed me to show him what I wanted to do. Hey, its worth a try? I can do it, carefully now and he asks for it but he will turn and try to bite sometimes so I have to be on my toes with him. he wants it but he is afraid, of what? I dont know...
