dont use essential oils with birds unless you want a bunch of sick birds.

i have treated birds that almost died from breathing that garbage.(they get well pretty quick when ya throw that stuff away and pump them full of oxygen most of the time but i have seen it kill birds in just a few minutes)

Birds are not horses, dogs, goats, pigs, etc they can and will die if you pump the air full of trash.

Just treat the bird like he has always been in your household and he will fit right in, dont handle him too much for the first couple of days and with zons food is the key(also keep him on the pellet diet he is on and give him fresh foods too.

Zons are a whole new ball of wax (nothing at all like an ekkie and shouldent be treated like one unless you want to create a monster)

Buy a big box of bandaids and enjoy your new bird. LOL

My yellow nape is relatively easy to read, just by his body language and his eyes. When I see him pinning me (dilating his pupils back and forth) I know he is not in the mood for company. You will learn, mainly by the pain they can inflict, how to judge his moods. Mine is not in his spring fever yet, but it is coming. When they are hormonal, you will know, and you must be on your toes when doing things around him during this time.
MY Elvis is 20 years old now, we've had him since he was 15, hubby and I both have scars to remind us to observe what mood he is in. He is generally a very quiet bird, he doesn't do much of anything, he gets in playful moods, and throws his ball at me to play fetch with him, he loves to wreck his wood toys, and most of all he adores any kind of bathing activities, whether I mist him to soaking or put him in the shower!!!!!
I wouldn't want to scare you off from amazons, they are wonderful, just different then all my others. We wouldn't trade him for anything, he's our big green dragon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck, and just give your guy the space to settle in and get comfortable. Tina

I think that would be the last thing I worry about. My baby girl is not jealous of new birds as long as she gets attention, too. Scarlett's never been around a BFA, but she does very well around my friend's MRHs, and she was NEVER jealous when we used to bring in new fosters.
