Oh...just wanted to add that I brought Paquito home when he was 1 month old. In that time..the breeder was an old lady and man. They didnt even want cure his toes...and I took him directly to a vet. Vet wanted to cut off 4 toes..which I absolutely went against. I convinced vet to give me meds..and instructions..which he did, but adding that I would be back cuz eventually Paquito would lose his toes. HE did lose one..but to a grey...not under my care...see when Paquito was 7 years old..he was birdnapped..and somehow God led me back to his wings..and him to my arms...that is another story...Thing is the is the only reason he lost one toe...as long as he is in my hands..he shall not be missing anymore. OH...if anyone ever tells you your bird will not remember you after 3 or more years...ITs not true..mine remembered me perfectly. Infact...they called him beast...and I kitty...he never liked anyone else but me. Till now..he now sort of accepts other members in my family.

I do the wing flutter all the time - I'm telling my human I want something. The thing is, I don't tell him *what* I want, because that would just ruin the surprise. He usually figures it out, though, because usually what I want is food. It can be a real pain being this predicatable!

I'll reiterate what Baba said in different terms:

This is a common behavior of large parrots, basically, it is 'begging'. It's hard to know why they beg until you go through the possibilities. For my Amazon, it's usually attention. Sometimes he begs so hard he will lose his balance.

My toucan Sam does the same thing at night...I always thought it was a roosting type of behavior...like he wanted to fly up the tree to sleep....he only ever does this at night....
