I told him I dont pay money for rescues. He tells me he had a chance to get a HY baby for $1700 when "Polly" came along. Ok Sure whatever. So God help me if he gives up this poor bird and goes and gets another. I hate people sometimes - I really do.

I could be wrong but it sounds like he is one of those people that knows what to say to get people to 'pity buy' the bird and then asks for a crapload of money as an 'adoption fee'. I would be extremely wary of the situation, and ask to see the bird before any sort of transaction happens.

A lot of Humane Societies allow you to report abuse anonymously. You wouldn't have to give your name or anything like that. Poor little bird!

How hard is it really to take paper out of a cage? My dogs are messier then my bird but I still love them. He was probably hoping you would feel so bad you would cough up the cash. I am the dog lady with my friends so I get it all the time. People ask me to find homes for their dogs but want me to give them cash assuming I will sell the dogs. Which I dont.

Problem with most humane society is that as long as the animal has shelter, and some semblance of food and water, they can't do anything.
