Feeling Like a rescue now

Somebody here at work wants to give me a DYH thats he has stuffed down in his basement since Christmas because of the mess. He put him down there over Christmas since he was having a "nice" Christmas and didnt want the mess. I saw a pic - its a pretty mature bird. Says he took it from a friend who worked at a pet store and it was dropped off with another in a cardboard box overnight. GEEZ PPL!!!!!! So I'm the resident Birdlady now - he approached me this morning about taking the bird. I told him I dont pay for rescues if he wants money so we will see what he says. He doesn't know gender but it apparently talks allot. poor creatures....I guess I dont understand the basement banishment thing cause all mine are like family...

They talk SO much. the exotic pet store owners I'm friends with have two they rescued. They're breeders and HATE people. But they LOVE talking to you. They won't even come out of their cage, so he had to get them a HUGE macaw cage to hang out with. But they're SO smart considering they have very little physical human contact.

But they'll talk to you all day.

Double Yellow Headed Amazon. Now he is backing up on me (and he approached me mind you) I think he wants money. I'll keep on him but it ticks me off now he says since he moved him down to the basement there he hasnt been able to clean up after him?????????? And he tells me the **** is piled up six inches!!!!! He says he is chewing on his tail feathers cause he is lonely. God it makes me mad. He tells me he wants a big bird. I told him it will be just as messy WTF!!!!! what is wrong with ppl. I told him to let me know - he said he is thinking about moving him outside. If he wants money that just means he really doesnt care about the bird whos name BTW is Polly (go figure). I told him I dont pay money for rescues. He tells me he had a chance to get a HY baby for $1700 when "Polly" came along. Ok Sure whatever. So God help me if he gives up this poor bird and goes and gets another. I hate people sometimes - I really do.

Wish I could give him a piece of my mind! I'm still new to the bird world but dang it, i take care of what I have,,,and wish i could have more but I know my limits! I hope by the grace of god you get your hands on this bird.

I WANT to give him a piece of mine but that wont do the poor bird any goodbecause if I alienate him.....well....nuf said. All I can hope for is he will go home this weekend and realize he doesnt have the time. He said he might just put him outside and I made it clear that mine go out but come in at night because of predators and they are not out when we are not home for same reasons.. You know, he came to me. I'm still frustrated and told hubby about it and it pi$$es him off too. I mean how can someone stand there and TELL you there pet has $hit piled up???

Can you report it? Have authorities go and get the bird? Sounds like his living conditions are horrible! This kind of thing makes me so angry, I just want to choke people who abuse animals.

hmmm, Im a newbie at this place and he has been around for awhile. I have to work with this guy and I plan on earning a retirement at this one - -Its a great place to work and I dont want to have to deal with an A$$ from the start. I just want to get the bird from the basement. he said he stopped giving him grapes because he tossed the skins and made a mess...gee...you think?
