2 Different birds in the same cage?

Hey guys, I was just wondering, is it possible to keep 2 different parrots in the same cage?
Like an african grey an a blue fronted amazon?
Or am I just headed for trouble?

Thanks!

With that combination, you are probably headed for trouble, especially during mating season with the amazon.

I agree. My birds have always had separate cages. It's like their home, I don't really think they want to share, anyway.

its not really suggested they be kept together. Its best for them to have their own areas. They also have different dietary needs.

I see

I see, well, my blue fronted amazon is about 6 months now, and since I have a new full time job he is alone most of the day.
I am constantly changing and buying new toys for him but he just demolishes them really really fast. Not that he is angry, just very curious.

I have been thinking about getting a second parrot for him, a female.
I guess the best combination will be a female blue fronted amazon, right?

Any other suggestions?

p.s.
Will getting him a female make him more aggressive towards me?

If you are having a hard time making time for your first bird how are you going to make time for the second? What if they hate eachother? Then yo will have two needy birds that both pine for your attention. What about breeding, how would you stop that? I don't think it is a good idea for you, just get lots of toys and leave the radio on...

It is possible to have a single zon and work full time; it just depends on your other commitments. I don't know if you have looked around the board much, but you will find some creative ideas for keeping them amused. They do go through toys quickly, but will be delighted to "help" you make more for them. Tell us more about your fid; we love pictures!!

If you are trying to save on your toy budget you may want to try at home fixes. My Amazon LOVES tp or paper towel rolls. They are her all time favorite. You can hide food in paper rolled up in the tubes. That can keep your bird busy for a good bit of time. It is a good way to reuse stuff you were just going to toss out anyway. Also she loves just plain rope. You can get cheap organic rope on line. It has no chemicals, coloring or any stuff like that. Just make sure the material is bird safe. It gives my bird a good work out, she likes to climb up and down in for hours on end. I sometimes stuff peanuts in between the braids.
