DYH and YN questions?

Hi All,
I am interested to learn more about both the double yellow head amazon and the yellow nape parrot. I have an african grey that is my pet and I breed cockatiels and Ringnecks.

Long story short I have decided to add another bird to my flock as a pet (non breeder) however, I won't start to look for a bird for at least another couple of months, but in the mean time I want to learn all I can about the species I am interested in and that way I can make a decision on which species I should look for. I will either end up getting another eclectus (I had a male that passed a year ago) or an amazon.

Anyway, my favorite amazons are the double yellow head and the yellow nape. What can you tell me about these 2 species? What is there temperment like? do they like to interact with people or are they more independent? What is there overall noise level like? How different would they be compared to my grey? Any other info you could give me would be excellent.

Thanks!!!

Most Amazons are independent. They dont USUALLY like to be held. You can always find one that does. They all do not talk like people tell you. I love my amazon but she does not always love me back. They can be moody and tempermental(sp?). I dont have a grey so I cant compare them. They can get smelly if you dont bath them on a regular basis. And they LOVE to destroy stuff(like greys from what I have heard).

I am owned by a male YNA and a bunch of others.I haven't had Beau as a baby he has been with us for 2 years his owners diet and an animal
control officer gave him to me.He was in a shell for a while and had many fears but has come out now.Look out!He is very friendly and outgoing. Not loud at all I leave him free during the day and he hangs out with all my Eclectus, most of Greys(TAG's,CAG's)He has his moments where he wants to be clingy and he will fly around and hang out with my husband of myself. It has been nice having him in our home.Sometimes he starts talking and it's clear what he's saying other times he appears to be talking gibberish. When the BFA's lived upstairs he tried to be friends with them but it wasn't something they appreciated.

I am new to Amazons. I have a green cheek or Mexican Red Head. I have had her for 2 months today. She was one on Mothers Day. She is sweet, she does talk a bit, she says hello, pretty girl, pretty cracker, quit it, quit it, quit, it, cuckoo. She doesn't like to be touched but she likes to sit on your finger, wrist or shoulder. She loves to just chill. If I leave the room she is in, she will fly to where I am, or I should say glide as far as she can get with clipped wings.

I love her to bits. I am so happy I added her to my home. She is a delight.
