Question Help Me Choose ...

I will have the opportunity to choose either a DYH or a LCA for my next fid. Which would you choose? Give me some input. Thanks.

I don't have experience with DYH but I do with many others. The LCA is a very quiet Amazon though it doesn't talk as much as many of the others.I used to own one but he was stolen.I've been noticing that more of them have been showing up now.One of my friend's has one.I'm owned by BFA's and YNA.With either of the two you won't loss.

I have a DYH, and he is the silliest bird ever. Loves to talk and is such a clown. I would not trade him for anything in this world. I dont have experience with any of the others, so I dont know if this is much help. But I love my DYH.

I say you just get both. I know that is no help but like sashagirl said you cant go wrong either way.

I agree. Get both! lol Amazons are great. I wasn't sure which type to get until my baby girl picked me. She's a blue front. My one word of caution would be to make sure the amazons are the same sex if you decide to have more than one. That way there should be less aggression issues during mating season, no guarantees of course.
When I have a larger home, I hope to add a few more to my flock....shhhhhhhhhh. Just don't tell my husband. Although in a moment of weakness, he did agree to let me get another one we both liked but I came to my senses before it was too late. :)
Good luck with whatever you decide! Either bird will be great.

I would go with the LCA one of my friends owns one and she never has a problem with the bird . It does not throw tantrums and is rarely if ever agressive and does not talk much either . she also has a dyh and it is just the opp of the LCA . the dyh throws tantrums ,screams and he also has a tendancy to bite from my understanding . I know for a fact that her dyh also swears like a sailor . so there you go . good luck .

Wow, hard call. If you are looking for a talker it sounds like the DYH might be the way to go. If talking isn't as important I would visit both birds, if possible, and see if you hit it off with one better than the other.

Like Tom said.... if possible visit both and let the bird pick you. I myself don't have a DYH (yet) but have LCA and although they can be loud are as sweet as can be, but that can all change when they become mature at about 5.

well, I have chosen our newest baby. Hooter is a LCA and a very sweet girl. Here are some first pictures that I have taken of her on the way home from Columbus, OH to WV. She looked out of the window the whole way home!!
