I would try to feed him the colored scented cheap bird pellets. When we got Jezz that is what they were giving her. I started to sprinkle them over Zupreem and eventually weaned her down to just the Zupreem. That may be what he used to eat. I pick all the sunflowers and peanuts out of the seed mix. Sunflower seeds are like chocolate like to people. They are addictive to the birds and high in fat. And the peanuts in the mixes can get moldy fast. I buy people grade peanuts to give her and she gets sunflower seeds from us as treats. Just remember that he can eat almost anything you eat so offer him some of your dinner tonight.

I feed Jezz a couple times a day(this is just what we do, I could be wrong). We have breakfast, dinner and snacks. You may also try lettuce it can stay out longer. You can leave most people fruits and veggies in the bowl for about 4 hours. If you are worried offer him some veggies and fruit in a bowl in his cage while you are gone. He can eat when he wants. Make sure to wash them well.

Hope this helps.

If you are worried I would ask your vet. He will probably know more and have better advice.
