Lol Oh Boy

I am in love!!! BUT the feeling isnt mutal. I saw an ad for a 5 yr old Amazon that was friendly and in full feather...I should have taken my own advice and passed on this deal lol, but he's SO cute! The owner said he was 5 but the people caring for him said more like 7 ok no biggy that's still just a baby well he refused to come to me or hubbybut i was told he's friendly just needs to get used to you SO i am hoping and praying he warms up to me because i just adore this guy he is supposed to be a dnaed male but they couldn't find the paper I don't really care i just am hoping he starts liking me....he's taking food out of my hand now and he was talking and whistling I have been doing research trying to get as much info as possible, i am going to start with stick training i think and go from there wish me luck everyone!!!!

I wish you alot of luck. With time I hope he comes around. I have 3 Indian Ringnecks I am trying to win over. So far 1 will let me touch his beak and will come to me when I call his/her name. But will not step up just yet. I have had them for about 3 weeks, so it is possible, just dont give up. They can be stubborn little creatures, but you gotta love them.LOL

I am subscribing to this thread because soon I will be an Amazon owner as well. I pick up my 44 year old Festive Amazon next week and I am interested to hear how your transition goes with your bird. GOOD LUCK, best wishes.

You really have to give it awhile. We have had our BFA for about 4 months and she is just starting to enjoy being held. We still cant touch her head. No sctratching her, yet. We still try. You need to give him a chance to get use to the new house and people before he may let you touch him. I had to seperate her pellets from her seed mix. She has 4 bowls in her cage. One for water, one for seed mix, one for pellets and one for her fruits and vegetables. She also has a plate for dinner. We eat organic so she can eat almost everything we eat. That has really helped with the bonding issues we have with her. We give her the plate at the table while we eat. I was told that eating as a flock is a really important thing to try. We also give her treats(almonds are on the top 10 fave list for her) when we walk by the cage or playstand, now she looks forward to us coming by her.

Be sure to post some pictures of your newest baby.

Lisark
I cant wait to see more pictures of your new baby. Werent you getting him this week?

I will be picking him up on the 27th. We have a long journey to get him...it's a 7-hour ferry and a 5 hour drive, one way, to get him home.

It's funny you should mention the 4 month figure, because that's exactly how long his current owners said it took for him to get used to THEM. Isn't that strange?

Thanks for the advice about eating as a flock. Also the suggestion about almonds! I'll certainly try it.
