Talking Is My Amazon Masturbating?

Hi i own a 6 year old blur frot who we have owned from being a baby. The past few days i have noticed that roxy is doing somthing that looks and sounds sexual! I have read on previous web sites that the birds reach sexuall maturaty around this age. roxy always enjoys a tickle on his head but yesterday as a gave him(or her) a tickle she grabbed my fingers with her feet and hung upside down trying to get me to tickle in the belly area. I placed roxy back on its perch to discover what looks like roxy humping the pearch. I was a little embarassed lol and then today sure enough around the same time today a repeat performance of yesterday. Does any one have any similar experience as this? Any information at all would be very gratefull and does anyone know whether this will happen every day forever lol i hope not!!
kind regards Donna xx

If you suspect that your Amazon is masturbating it's a good chance he/she is at that age it definately happens. You just need to be aware that there are certain areas you don't want to touch on him/her or this will only incourage this behavior.Unless this is something you want to continue. If you continue to stimulate the behavior chances are it will use you as it's tool to do it's thing on.It's better to avoid certain contact during this time.

Masturbating is not unusual. Only us people are offended by it. To an animal there is nothing wrong with it..

No its not unusual but again not to be encouraged. Because then you get into the sexual dominance/bonding behaviors. One thing you can do to help is give shorter days (ie: longer darktime/sleeptime. The shorter days will "turn off" the mating instincts as if you were going into winter time.
