Just got a Yellow Naped Amazon

I've never had one before so all the advice you all can give is wonderful.

This bird was a store pet that had prior owners. My husband adored her but she was never for sale. The opportunity came where the store had to sell her and they called me. I wasted no time and ran down to get her knowing how much she meant to my hubby. She's about 3 and is a huge chatter box. She even says a few things in Spanish. She LOVES human company and loves to be cuddled and such. Her fav toy seems to be cardboard boxes, just likes to go in them and tear them up. Obviously she's only allowed to play with the box with supervision.

My Macaw Sampson is jealous if I touch her, so I need to set up mommy time with Sammy so that way I can give attention to all the birds, including the new one.

What kind of toys do Amazons like? Is there anything special?

Mine loves foraging toys and anything she can destroy. We give her paper and wood toys to destroy. Just make sure there is no ink on the paper. Some people say you can give phone books, we dont but you can ask your vet what he/she thinks. She also likes rope toys. She also likes her stuffed dog toy. She only has it when we are around to watch, she likes to just sit with it.

BTW...

Due to the paper being so thin and all, most phone-books are printed with vegetable based ink dyes. Hence the reason they are not usually considered a problem.

Larger type nuts that will actually be possible, but a challenge, to crack!

Not too many nuts with Zons as they are prone to fatty liver disease. Nut ok but in moderation including sunflower seeds and peanuts. Save them as treats.
