Smile Agression with Bell

For a couple of months now, my DYH is so agressive when we uncover his cage and cover him us. It's also when we just walk by. He lunges at anything around him. When I go to feed him he walks to the bowl, which is on the outside of his cage, and will lunge at me. He doesn't even want to come out of his cage anymore. I have to take a dowl and he bites at that, but will step up and come out. He doesn't step up on my arm yet, in or out of the cage. Is this the bad time of the year for birds?

The attached picture is one of the rare times Merlin stepped up on my hand. I loved it!!!!!!
Thanks

Not an expert at all but I understand that they get "spunky" in the spring time when they are looking to mate. I'm sure one of the zon gurus will be along before long to confirm this to be right or wrong. I do have a Yellow Naped Zon but he's only 4 1/2 months old so I haven't been through this yet with him. Best of luck to you though, hope he settles down.

April to June are the months that Amazons usually become hormonal.

My Gizmo is five years old, Orange Winged. Had him three months now and from the second month he has been horny lol although ive tried to manage this by shortening his day. Every time i ask him to come down off his branches to his cage he takes this as if im going to satisy his needs ha ha its funny but it does get better, the way i look at it is they have needs like us humans..... is he letting you touch him at all, ive been advised to avoid certain areas xx
