My YNA, Verde, is my first bird, and is the sweetest thing ever. He's still young, so none of the hormonal problems have presented themselves just yet (if they ever do- you can't make blanket generalizations about these guys any more than you can about humans).
but otherwise he's been great. Loves to play, loves both me and my fiance, and, curiously, has formed a very strong bond with my cat Digger. They're practically inseparable.

Yeah, we wanna see him!

By the way, Topher, out of curiosity how did you get your name? You're not related to the Selles, are you?

As soon as I get a good picture of Verde and Digger, I'll post it. I also need to take a few pictures of Jackson at the pet store. Guess I have an assignment for this weekend...

My name is Chris- and some old family friends used to call me Topher when I was a small child. I used to hate it, but now I really like it! I'm also a part-time professional dj, and I go by DJ Topher

anyway- here's a picture of my fiance Nikki holding Verde at the pet store a while back, before we brought him home:

Hi I have a red lored amazon named Poncho who is 1 1/2 year old. He is very attached to me but dislikes my husband alot. I have been reading alot of books and magazines trying to find out everything I can. Right now I am very confused. I bought him from a lady who seemed to know alot about birds. She moved away and there is not a person or a vet that is within a 60 mile area that I can find that deals with just birds. For instance his front wings were clipped when I bought him and I took him to a local vet and they clipped the back wings and left the front. I have checked with PetCo trying to find a good vet but to no avail. Any ideas...I am reading alot about the scars (love bites) from everyone, I am just a little hesitant at times with him. He seems so sweet. Gosh I guess this has been long enough... but I do have so many questions. What is the the difference between your amazon and mine?

...I'm a bit confused...what do you mean by front and back wings?

The primaries should be clipped. If they clipped anything else by mistake, I'd certainly go and get my money back...
