Pepper's A Girl

I adopted Pepper in Key West FL Jan. 04 and was told he was a male. Well to my surprise this morning, I found an egg in the bottom of his/her cage when I went in to give him/her his morning loving!

He has never laid an egg the entire time I have known him/her. This is so confusing! LOL I emailed my friend who kept him for me while we were in Thailand and she is laughing sooooo hard. He never laid an egg while he was with her either!

It is sooo hard to call him my "baby girl" instead of "baby boy". She's 29-30 years old. Of course it doesn't matter to us whether Pepper is male or female. It's just a good thing Pepper can be a name for either sex!

LOL I brought 20+ yr old Vern home last Sept and though she has never laid an egg she spent the first 20 yrs of her life as a boy. I had her DNAed after she came into my life. Vern is def a male name but if you think about it only people need to have gender specific names so Vern she will stay. It would be way to hard to expect her to understand not only a new world but a new name..

Congrats on your baby girl finally showing her true colors.

Ha Ha Ha!!! I know what you mean. I have known many birds who turned out to be the opposite sex of what their names would imply... It doesn't matter, though. Pepper is lucky to have you!
