Smoke is no better for them than it is for us.
He could be over weight, but without a gram scale that will be hard to tell. Yes they are quite large birds and very solid especially as they get older. I would definitely see about getting him in for a vet check to make sure everything is ok with him. Congrats on your new bird. Amazons can be loads of fun, but they can be touch me nots as well.

I did looked it up and of all i've seen he looks like a yellow nape. The home I took him from said he was a yellow face .. i knew they were off the moment i saw him because i was guessing a yellow face would have yellow on there face lol. He is fun tho..just have to get use to us i guess. He talks alot but we cannot pet him yet. He love his toys as he never had any in the previous home.

He is sooo cute! Congrats on the new bird! I'm glad he isn't in that smoke filled house anymore. Amazons can be a handful sometimes, but they are great companions, too! Just like any bird, they can have moments. Just be patient and work with him. He'll start to adapt. Good luck!
