New cage
We've had Rico since January, and he came with his cage. I did not want to change it immediately as he has had it 15 years (according to the individual I adopted him from). I am debating about a new cage for him (a larger one). His cage is large (I attached a photo), but I thought he might like a new one. Or, would that be too hard on a 15-year-old parrot and I should just let him be....Regardless, I was wondering what is the biggest and best cage out there (assuming money is no option....which it is but I can dream big). Any suggestions (on whether to get a new cage and which one to get)??

Yeah, he has a pretty big cage so unless it is in bad shape or you just want something different then the one he has is not bad at all.
My Nape is in a 32 x 24 cage. I really want to change it out as it is a used cage that I got from someone else - glad to have it but so tired of the inherited cages that don't have cups or something and won't even mention the chipping paint. This thread is making me think of getting a macaw as well when I do get him a new one..... I wonder if he would use all the space......

Wow, that Bongo Bungalow is impressive. That wouldn't fit anywhere in my apartment, but just out of curiosity, how much would something like that set a person back?

I imagine its a couple thousand. Its all stainless. I simply build the new cage right in front of the old one close enough for the bird to walk on to it and explore with you (and help, lol) and then I move their toys one by one. And then dishes and while they are on it exploring, helping whatever I begin to dissassemble the old one.

OK, this cage isn't huge but I really like it because it's flat top so you can hang lots of stuff off the top (my guy loves to dangle off of ropes and swings) and it makes good use of the space. It's not that pretty though, but it's under 700 and 40 x 40 x 74.

No cage is too big! However, (personally) I would ease a new cage into the bird's life. Depending on the Amazon, you may need to make the change slowly. I adopted Perdy in January and kept her in the old cage until she seemed to be adaptive to her new surroundings. When the time was right, I got her the super big cage with the divider in the middle. She went from a 3x3x4 (roughly) cage to something 3 times that. She was super excited about the extra space and didn't seem to miss her old cage at all. With Mischief, I had to place the new cage in the room with her for about a week so she was used to it being there. Then I moved it closer and closer each day until she started climbing on it. When she was comfortable with being inside the cage, I transferred all of her toys and got rid of the old one. Good luck with the cage search!
