Talking An update on Lucy's rehome... (pics)

Hello all! As some of you know, I've recently adopted a CAG. Well my CAG's owners also had a Magnum DYH Zon
(Lucy) to rehome (I was too chicken to consider her). I told them I would certainly try to find her a good home for them,
as their resources were short. Well, I found what I thought would be a perfect home for Lucy with Kim & Gus & their
family, consisting of 11 gorgeous children (7 still living @ home)

Kim & Gus picked Lucy up earlier today & here is the update:

(Email to me, from Kim):
Hey Melissa - I was just writing Terry and Jenny when your email came in. Lucy is all settled in and just wonderful!
Thank you so much for the connection! Terry and Jenny are wonderful people - so are you and your husband.
We feel so lucky! Attached is the email I just sent them....

(Email from Kim, to Terry & Jenny):
Hi Terry and Jenny! Awww......Lucy is so wonderful! I am sending you a couple pictures...She has taught us that all
music is Rock and Roll! She has responded when I say Lucy, she says What? And we know that Old McMurphy had
a duck. She successfully preened my entire hand. She hs loved spending the entire evening entertaining all of us.
She has sang, talked, danced and just been delightful. While I was setting up her cage, she climbed up onto my daughter
who was sitting on the couch! She was not happy when I put her in the cage - she wanted to stay out and keep playing!
I told her she needed to say goodnight and we sang a good night song together. So sweet! She has let me know that she
would rather be out than in. She let me have it....under her breath! She has not squaked one time! We just love her to
pieces...She just slid in like she had been here forever! I can not thank you enough for her....

Kim
Here are a couple of pics of Lucy, since she is with her new family:

This is Lucy, hanging out on someone's leg:

This is Lucy, preening Kim's hand:

And, of course, I had to save the best for last...
Lucy and Jen. I can't get over how proud Lucy looks to be hanging out with her her new lil' sis.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to post the most recent update on Lucy, the DYH Zon I helped to rehome.
I LOVE these updates, ya know... since all is going so well & all. Ha-ha.

Below is the update I received from Kim, just this morning:

Good Morning All! Just a little update on Lucy. :>) Lucy is still doing remarkably well. She is learning our names and continues to entertain us with her antics. She sings and talks quite a bit! When out of her cage, she chatters all the time. She enjoys mimicking me every chance she gets. If I call one of the kids, she joins in the call. It is the only time she raises her voice! She has still not squacked at all. She loves her afternoon naptime when she wants to be left alone to relax in her cage. So far she will not play with any foot toys....she does love to hold my bracelets and gnaw on them, so I guess that is giving her foot play! She definitely likes her wood and rope toy over any of the plastic toys that she has. By far though, her favorite thing is a coconut toy that is cut in half and hangs with fringy stuff on it. She bites it, swings it and talks to it. She will tell it "ooooohhhhhhh" and just babble to it. We can not pass her without her greeting us with a Helloooooo! When I say LU she says CY in a deep gruff voice with her head down. She has started finishing words I say to her which is so cute! She loves showering and being sprayed and will dance for it! I am trying to teach her to "turn around" so I can get her back. She will kinda squat so I can get her belly. A few nights ago, I was up late and had not yet covered her - she let me know - she said Good Night Lucy, Good Night Lucy. I said Lucy, do you want to go to bed? She did her very quiet grumbling and then said again, Good Night Lucy. I covered her up and never heard her again. (Generally she grumbles and mumbles when I cover her.) She is truly a joy to have around!

Jenny - Maybe she is saying La La La instead of Blah Blah Blah! I am still learning her language - LOL! Sometimes she will chatter away as if she is having a conversation and I have no clue what she is saying!

Melissa - I joined the bird board a while ago to ask questions about Dancer - the conure - but still can not post on the board. What do I do?

Anyway, I am attaching a picture of her watching youtube. She LOVES music! She sings along, even though she does not know the song and is generally a bit off key...kinda like me! I am trying to get a video of her singing Old McMurphy but she sees me with a camera or my phone and stops. A bit of stage fright maybe? LOL!

Have a great day!

Kim and Lucy

Hi all! I am Lucys mom! I just thought I would update here...Lucy is doing great! She has transitioned very well into our home. She is a chatterbug, learning new things all the time. She loves to mock me every chance she gets. She sings, talks, whistles, but never ever squaks! She has been to the vets already who said they were very impressed with her, and warned me that she may pluck again due to her environment change. She did, for a milli-second, but now has beautiful green feathers growing in. I do think that the change made her a bit hormonal...wanting to mate, but not aggressive...Or it could be this awful weather we are having and her not really knowing what season it is. Whatever it is, we are working through it, with her not being allowed to preen any of us, pluck, get too close to our body (especially mine - as I am her person) or be stroked. It is tough when she looks at me with her big eyes wanting me to be a boy bird! But I have been very hands on, but yet hands off so that she will get the hint that none of that will be happening....LOL! She tells us when she is ready for bed by telling me "Time for bed Lucy!" She greets everyone who enters with a big WELL HELLO THERE! And tells them Good bye, see ya later when they leave. She is learning a new song, but I cant tell yet what it is. She will yell at the kids with me, which is quite amusing. She says uh uh uh nooooooooooo and oopsie! She is such a wonderful addition to our family, and we are so happy to have her! Thanks to mabird for being instrumental in bringing Lucy home!

So, does anyone have any cool toy suggestions? Lucy does not like her toys, and I have alternated things, tried foraging boxes, bright colors, wood, plastic, paper (she thought that was a nest!), foot toys, etc...So far the only thing she likes is a coconut hanging thing, and the wood on her ladder. I tried making her cage busy, then toning it down, different things, but she has little interest. We are going to build her a foraging tree - any ideas on that? I have a nice piece of poplar that we are going to drill out, put stuff in, etc...any help in that area is appreciated! Oh, we did learn that she LOVES anything blue. Kinda funny, but everytime I wear a bright blue shirt or hold anything bright blue, she bites it. I have lots of church shirts now...nice and "holy!"
