HOW WOULD YOU KNOW. I would think he is yellow naped amazon just by the yellow on his head. Also, besides a dna from vet how can we tell if they are boys?

I think he is a orange wing as well. A yellow nape is just that, a bit of yellow on the back of the neck, head, not colored on the face like that. A very pretty bird!

orange wings are really nice birds. They are not as aggressive when hormonal as the hot 3, you are very lucky to have found one! They are very devoted pets. Most species DNA is the only way to tell if male or female, there are a few that are sexually dimorphic (can be sexed visually) but I don't think OWs can be. The yellow patches on the cheeks are why I guess OW Amazon, he looks like a very nice bird, I'm jealous!

Definitely an orange wing....Beautiful birds you have there!!! Ow are sweethearts. A person doesn't see many of them. How lucky you are. I'm glad you figured out how to post pictures of them. Hopefully, there will be more to come.

ok, so he is an OW and yes he is very nice but very shy. He will not let us touch him as wont the grey that we have had for about 5 wks. I wonder when it will start to let us touch them? He is chews on wood alot so I put some wood toys in his cage. He purrs like a cat too! He does not talk at all!!!!! Never has I guess.

talking isn't everything, sometimes the best talkers are aggressive and hard to handle and the sweetest pets don't talk at all. After you've lived with birds for a while you focus a lot less on their ability to talk. When you say they won't let you touch them do you mean petting or stepping up? Greys and zon's aren't much for petting and scritches. The zon you've only had a couple days so it will take a while for both to settle in. My mini macaw purrs too. I love that !
