It's official BabyIsis is a OrangeWingedAmazon

Well, just got back from the Vet. Dr. Jordan said that she was a beautiful and friendly parrot. Everyone loved her! And I in return LOVE OUR AVIAN VET and HIS STAFF. They are really on top of things and as soon as we walked in the receptionist said "This must be Baby Isis". If you have been there before they always remember your baby's name.

The Fecal Grams are negative for pathogens and parasites. He said that it looks like she has been over preening and she is starting to molt. It is really not noticeable, but he get's right in those feathers.

He checked for Weight, attitude, eyes, ears nose/throat, lymph and salivary glands, gait/lameness/extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, gastrointestinal, Urogenitals, Neurologic, vitals/hydration.... ALL FANTASTIC!!!!!

He did prescribe her some Metacam to reduce pain and inflammation from new feather growth and he dulled her beak! Kisses are a lot better now. We are now waiting for her blood work but he said that she appears healthy on general examination.

Before we left he said he wanted to do x-rays at no charge to make sure that all her internals were o.k. We were able to see all of Baby Isis's innards’! And we even got to see her ovaries. We take all our birdies and he is just so thorough. Dr. Jordan and all his staff spend quite a bit of time with you wanting to know all about the bird, sleeping habits, eating habits, likes, dislikes. He talked to us about Shakti and Dharma.

Also, his staff made sure that again they gave us the number to an all night and weekend facility that has avian experience in case of an emergency.

But as I told them, I have had a conversation with all of the kiddos and told them that they are not to get sick from 7:00 p.m - 7:00 a.m or on weekends or holidays!

Before we left the receptionist said --- make sure you give kisses to Shakti and Dharma. They always remember the others.

Wow!! What a TOTALLY different experience than I had! I wasn't told that Ziva looked healthy or not... it's been a week and I've called three times for her lab results to hear NOTHING. The receptionist barely noticed that I was there, and was very short and curt from the check in on. I'm glad you have a vet to keep! I wasn't impressed with the old vet or the new one.

That is great! My vet is nice, but nothing like that, and I feel myself pushing for more tests or trying to pull teeth to get an explanation from her. This gives me the push to go out and look for a great vet for my birds now.

I am sure that there are vets out there who are caring like mine. Believe me I interviewed about 5 avian vets before I found this one.
