ID this bird

Posting on Albany, NY Craigslist. The owner obviously doesn't know what kind of bird he has, and neither do I? Can anyone ID this bird?

So i received some emails telling me that Paco is not a double yellow, so i took few more pics. Hes 4.5-5 years old speaks english and spanish words. He lets your pet him and is a very smart boy. I am taking 18 credits this semester at SUNY Albany and cannot find time to play with him as much as i want. I just bought him last week froma friend of mine, and want to make sure he goes to a good home. for more information email or or call 845-536-2884

Maybe he's not even an Amazon at all?

I think I'm going to email him and see what else he can tell me about him and what the rehoming fee is...so sad that he got him last week and now all of a sudden realizes he's taking 18 credits and doesn't have time for him. People never cease to amaze me!

I dunno that picture on the left looks very amazonish, looking for trouble. my guess is a yellow crowned. hope you can get him poor guys being bounced around.

I can't tell if he's yellow crowned - maybe..

'The Yellow-crowned Amazon, Yellow-fronted Amazon, or Singe Yellow-headed Amazon is generally green with yellow-green on the under parts, dark black edges to the feathers on the back of the head, and a bright red on the edge of its wing and speculum. The tail is also yellow-green underneath with a red spot at the base of each feather. The eye is orange surrounded by an unfeathered white ring. The beak is light gray with some pink on the upper part close to the base, and the legs are gray. Juveniles are a paler green with more black on the edges of the feathers behind the head and less of the yellows and reds. '

I thought Yellow Nape. It would be great if you could get him. I would have been tempted to try to save him but having just taken in Annie, there is just no way.

Here are 2 more pics I got from a previous post from this guy. This bird looks so raggedy. I bet he would love a shower and more than 1 perch and a few ratty toys. I emailed the owner, hope I hear back soon!

Go to
Double Yellow AMAZON parrot
to see the pics. I was having trouble uploading.

Wow, that poor baby is in bad shape. His nails are curled around. His feathers are dull and dirty and his beak looks a little funny. He looks like he could be in the Pi family alittle but I'm not sure about the horn colored beak. Doesn't look pure zon that's for sure. But who knows what he truely looks like with the shape he is in. I pray you can rescue this bird.

I just got this response back.. if he wants the bird to go to someone with more free time he should ask 700. What do you guys think of this? What should I do now, I don't have 700, but I feel so bad for this bird. I'm def going to ask what species his friend thought he had.

His name is Paco, he was my friends bird, he bought him hand fed..for
$2000. He just got another job, where he worked over 13 hours a day. I
loved the bird and bought him for $800 about 2 weeks ago, Paco lets you
pet him and talks (he hasnt talked to me much but hes still getting used
to me. my friend is spanish so the bird knows english and spanish words).
What I love about him is hes very quiet for a parrot, but he is so smart
it amazes me. I go to SUNY Albany and taking 18 credits lately I have been
very busy and wanted to see if anyone with more free time wanted him. I am
asking for around $700 he comes with his cage/food/toys

Who ever his friend is, got ripped off! And so did he. He did not pay $800 for a bird from a friend. I know we all feel sorry for this little guy but I am sorry that bird is way over priced. Including cage:the cage bars are a mess and I thought I could see rust. He is not going to get that for this bird unless it is a very uneducated bird person which would be ashame for the bird.
