His name is Fin...

And yes, I am crazy in case you were wondering. This makes 4 big birdies for me.

I have been talking to cbalvino for the last month or so about the Amazon that she was getting. She decided that I would be a good home for him, and well...he is here! I was waiting patiently, and two mornings ago...I got the call! He is ready for you!

First, I want to say thank you to CbAlvino and her husband for entrusting him to me. I got to meet her flock, and seriously...when I die, I want to come back as a bird at her house! Her indoor aviary is amazing! Her birds were so social and friendly, and would come and land on my shoulder! She has done so much good for her rescues, it is amazing to see them all together.

I named the new guy "Finley" but I am going to call him Fin. Like a shark fin (haha) the Jimmy Buffet song...and the nerdy coffee loving guy on the movie American Pie.

Fin is at LEAST 10 years young, and he is a yellow nape. He wanted to bite me at first (of course) but when I got him in the car, he was pressing his head against the travel cage for scritches. He is reliably stepping up for me (like 100% of the time) and while he is a very oral, beaky guy...he does not try to bite me.

He seems to LOVE his temporary cage with playtop, and being an amazon...he LOVES to eat. Today he enjoyed some spaghettio-s, fruit loops, and some cheese. (along with his birdie food of course)

He actually seems very sweet for an amazon. He will pin his eyes at me, and say HELLO! Then climb down from his cage and come sit with me on the couch. (He also flew into the kitchen to hang out with me while I was making coffee)

He lived with dogs in his previous home, so he doesnt mind my dogs... (and my dogs are bird savy so they dont bother the birds)

He is just a COOL bird. I am so so so happy to have him.

Here are some photos of Mr. Fin...

(Like I said, this is a temporary cage for him...I know it is a little small) He will be getting a brand new playtop cage very soon.

he's very intense looking, very beautiful and wild. You will have your hands full with that one I bet, but amazon's are worth every second of trouble they give you!

Thanks for the sweet compliments! You are the perfect person for him! I of course would have loved to keep him,but as you saw I have several that are mine for life, and he needed someone to love him and pay attention to him,you will love and care for him I "know" that and from a rescue point of view it doesn't get better than that,my goal is to help them to have the BEST in life for THEM,even though it breaks my heart a little with each one, they have to come first,my heart mends with knowing I did the best for them!

He's beautiful. Congratulations! Many people don't mention the sweet side of amazons. You read about the bad but rarely the good. My zon can be an absolute sweetie when she wants.
Fin (love the name) looks and sounds like a very happy guy. May you have many, many years of happiness together.

Pretty bird. Any chance he's a she? He just has a girlish look about him compared to the yellow napes I've raised. But, mine all come from the same parents, so I might not be so good at spotting gender differences in other napes.
