Tell me about your Panama ..

Id like to hear about personal experiences with owners.
Are they "less hormonal" then other types? Are there talking abilities as good as a Yellow napes <or any other amazon type>

Are they at all cuddly? I know in general Zons are alot less hands on.

What are there energy levels like? Are they one person/sex bonded?

Thanks :)

Tiki is very high energy bird. Extremely smart. He's cuddly when he wants to be with the person of his choosing during the day. In the evening he will just melt in anyone's hands. He is extremely mischievous, loves getting in trouble. Very very naughty bird keeps us very busy. Love him to death. Not old enough to be hormonal. I thought Panama's were supposed to be more laid back and easy going. He is not aggressive, just loves behaving badly. And that means on occassion being nippy. Just enough to get a rise out of a person, not enough to be called truly aggressive. He needs LOTS of stimulation and LOVES being the center of attention. Of my flock all my other birds = 1 Tiki for the amount of time and attention needed. He's still my favorite even though he chose Kyle. I think he chose Kyle (my 19 yr old son) because he was jealous of my other birds, and because he enjoys making me jealous. In fact, even though I am his 'back up' he get jealous when I give another bird too much attention. He is OK with the occasional shoulder ride, but if I dote too much he reacts by flying behind the back of my neck and pinching the skin there. He does not get along well with my other birds. In fact his favorite activity is getting into trouble.

Why do I love this bird so much?? I can't say. He didn't even pick me. He is so full of personality, and even though he loves behaving badly he is such a joy to have around the house. He laughs all the time. He growls. He calls Kyle as soon as he hears his alarm go off. He loves to go out and meet people. He sounds like an adorable 2 year old when he talks. He's my favorite no matter how much he tortures me!! He is extremely playful.

Hormones? he's not even 2 yrs old. No matter what I will always treasure him.

Maybe I'm the only one but I just adopted a 5-10 year old Yellow Headed Amazon and he came to me with open arms. He doesn't know how to bite and/or he knows not to bite hard. He's lovely and unplucked.

I'm happy with him and I'm hoping he stays friendly since he's already an adult.
