Baby Isis has a new DIGS!
There was this ad in the CL about a Parrot Sanctuary that was selling parrot cages that had been donated and that they money was going to re-habilitate a Cockatoo! I could not pass up this offer!!!! So we went out there, fell in love with a cage that is in excellent condition, paid $100 (well worth it if only for the cause) --- and we have decided to apply to do some volunteer work.
This place is so beautiful, peaceful and listening to the call of the parrots is an added bonus.... Baby Isis was in her new digs before we were able to finish putting her stuff in! Yes---we "purified" the whole cage (twice) and then kept it out in the sun for 2 days! Anyone that knows me knows how paranoid I am of disease and my babies! Below see the pictures (not so great cause they were taken with my phone) of Baby and her new "condo". She is in there but you cannot see her in the full shot of the condo! Oh the cage is wonderful! I bet your zon's having a great time!
I'm so happy your volunteering at the parrot rescue! I volunteered most of my teenage years at my local humane society; I was such a great help that they hired me onto their staff four years later..... I loved the volunteer work though. I'm sure the rescue is going to appreciate so much!

When we first got Isis she was sharing a small cage with a Quaker (at her previous home). When we first brought her home we wanted to make sure she was not overwhelmed so we kept her in a medium size cage to get her use to the environment. We have been looking for a bigger cage since then and this one was just right! She could not wait to get in it. My husband says that Shakti (our Alex) is jealous he can tell (??she has a nice cage??).Shakti goes to Isis' cage and hangs out every so often. So he wants to go back and get another one similar to this one which needs a little work. I think he just wants to get Shakti a bigger cage -- her cage is a good size, but hey why not! It's funny because in the beginning he was like "oh hum birds" now he is so much into them! I catch him every once in a while talking baby talk to them. It's so funny. He is home most of the day and spends quite a bit of time with them. It's funny how these wonderful, intelligent creatures just creep right into your hearts! |

I do love the cage. My husband thinks we should just turn the whole house into an aviary! What the heck!
Isis does have a great view! I am so very happy that she is happy --- It's just gives one such a great feeling when you know that your animals are content! |
