Ha Ha Ha! I was reading a book today that had a checklist in it and birds were listed as an "economical" pet! Can you believe that? Economical?? No way! Not if you do it right.
I didn't buy the birds I have but I will tell you that I spend sooooo much money on them from the vet bills up front to getting proper housing, good food, toys, and enrichment. My mom was visiting and pointed out to me the irony of purchasing a very expensive bird toy and praising the bird for destroying it moments later...it gave me pause and made me laugh!
