List of declared species in WA

Found this wonderful document for our Western Aussies that lists what birds (and everything else it seems) is and isn't allowed in the state. Short version is that if it has A1 you can't have it. Here's the link and don't shoot the messenger..

Why wouldn't you be allowed to have a BLue Front Amazon? Seriously...

And African Greys, sooo many conures? WTF? WHAt is their reasoning? I have read articles on how many crops are being destroyed and how farmers are allowed to shoot certain birds, but PET BIRDS? especially non-natives...

I don't get it.

Damn, there goes my dreams of getting me an Andean Condor and moving to Freemantle.
You can't keep green-cheeks but you can keep suns? What planet are they on? We in other states should pay close attention though because this is a glimpse of the future, one day all states are going to be like this!

My understanding is it's due to attempting to keep the natural biodiversity. GCCs breed at a year old and are very prolific breeders, suns on the other hand are more around teh 2 year plus mark and aren't quite as prolific. Greys I have no idea what the story is. Maybe the folks in the department are concerned about having a bird in the state that's more intelligent then them.

Keep an eye on Tassie as it's going the same way. Friend is having all sorts of problems trying to get her BF into the state.

wa regs

Well if I didn't live here I'd flammin not come here! Plus we haven't got late night shops, day-light saving, half the great shops the eastern states have...argh I could go on. Sorry "rest of Oz", the spirit of this state seems located in the 1950's...

No late night shopping? Even in Perth?

WA sucks. Move over here.

The premier is developing late night shopping, he is doing his best.
Right now we only have it on Thursday nights.
I am glad we don't have daylight savings. :P
But the declared species list really irritates me. :(

Birde, you don't really consider that Thursday night shopping is late night shopping compared to the rest of Australia? It is so-o-o much better in the other states.
