My Kiwi is sweet and really laid back. He doesn't spook easily. he was a littlebit of a challenge to tame down but calmed down soon enough. The ease of taming is really different from bird to bird. Good luck.

Hmmm.

I never heard of that. I have a pair and they are no more flighty than any other non tamed bird. The female was hand tamed at first and was real sweet - she is not mean now but more flighty since i have not handled her. They make great pets but dont have the pretty song of the bourkes which I have some of those too. They are stunning to look at though. Males usually run about $125 unless it s a mutation. There are white chested blue mutations that are stunning as well. I dont care much for the cinnamons. Heck they dont need mutations to be wonderful but those blues really caught my eye.

Oh my, Jump on that! The standard around here is $125! I have six dogs in my house that sometimes will go off if they see something outside. If they were to die by being startled they would have been gone long ago, lol!! I do keep them in a "bird" room though and try not to startle too much just because that room is for breeders and needs to be more serene. I tell you I have let them out to fly once in awhile and a male splendid flying is like a fluttering rainbow!! Good luck.
