red rump sexing/behaviour

Hi, I have 4 Red Rumps, 2 I think are opaline males, 1 normal female & 1 Pied, do the pied males have red rumps too as mine doesn't have one, so i think its a female but wasnt sure how to sex the pieds? one of the males seems to have paired off with the pied bird but that male continues to aggressively chase the normal female trying to bite at her, the pied bird is also sometimes aggresive towards her when the male is, it was originally just the three birds & i've only just introduced the female a few days ago, should i get another female so theres more females to males? just wandering if anybody had any ideas, thanks

Can't say I really know much about them, but this link might prove somewhat helpful...

Personally they are one breed I would not be putting in together. If you can separate them I would definately advise it. Sometimes they appear to be ok together but I know plenty of people who have gone to look at there avairy and found that something has changed overnight and they have a dead or injured bird on their hands. I am not sure about the pied males. Some colours like the greys, platinums, and blues have a white patch instead of red.

thanks guys, shes only been in there about three days now & they seem to be getting used to each other, theyre not fighting, occasionally chase each other around but generally get on ok, i cant really separate them but theyre in a large outdoor flight so they can keep to themselves & do so if bothered by one of the others. All 4 red rumps happily roost together in the same tree. One of my males seems to have become less active & fluffs his feathers up alot, he still eats & drinks & is still fairly vocal if you call out to him but less so than usual, also his feces are a wet green, iv'e read this may indicate diarrhea? im keeping him warm , anybody got any experience or ideas how to treat it?
cheers
Tom

Your red rump thats showing signs of illness may very well be sick, and could be something that only a vet could treat. It's possible that he got a bacterial or fungal problem, or something else. He needs to be kept warm inside, and may need to be taken to the vet.
