Yeah if they bred it would be rosy's but if she got another split or normal we could get some normals. But yeah, she isn't breeding them but i told her if she wanted to let them have a clutch, i would raise the babies for her. Does it matter what sex is what? Does that make a difference? The male is the split and the female is the rosy.

Normal Split Rosy x Rosy
50% Rosies
50% Normals

Rosy/Opaline is a sex linked mutation. Since the mother is a rosy, you're aunt would get normals and rosies of both sexes. The normal male offsprings will be split rosy. The normal female offspring will not.

hahahaha in Australia, it is sooooooooo much easier to find normal bourkes parrots, at my bird club, every raffle, the prize is a pair of normal bourkes, i have kept them, but now my pair consists of a rosa split cream hen and a rosa split pink male
budgie bands work great 4 me :)

The Normal Bourkes are my favorite, and they are sexually dimorphic (males and females can be visually sexed). Good luck in your search - you've probably found some by now! lol.

Are Bourkes pet birds, or are they more for aviary type situations?

Hello prettypenguin,

I have 4 Bourkeparrots - and 2 Elegantparrots - as pets in a aviary in my livingroom.

Grassparrots don't can live in a cage, they must have a aviary and many free flight.

Look it this underforum, there are threads with photos from my birds.

When you have more questions, then question us ...

If you handraise a Bourke they can make a good house pet and be kept in a cockatiel sized cage - of course they still require out of cage flight time.
I like Rosa Bourke's Parrots, but my favourite is still the wild type.

Hello,

here in Germany is the recommended minimum size for a cage or a room aviary for parrots in size from grass parrots:

length: 1m
height: 0,5m
deep: 0,5m

The most cages for cockatiels was smaller, unfortunately. My room aviary is bigger.

My favorite by Bourkes are the wild type, too.
