Yeah, the only good thing is the aussie birds are cheaper like the cockatoos, major mitchells and black cockatoos. I would love a pair of princess parrots to breed, they're so cute! Only about $100 here, even cheaper from a bird fair, seen some for $40. But unfortunately I'm the idiot who wants the exotics

I have a Red-fronted kakariki. She just turned 1 year old. I met here the day after she was pulled from the nest box. She was going to be parrent-raised, but momma was anxious for the nest clutch and was tearing the feathers out the back of her neck. The breeder pulled her and sold her to a good pet store. I met her the next day, she wasn't quite flying yet. I looked at her, opened the cage door, and before I could blink and eye this little fuzzy bird ran up my finger arm and shoulder and put her beak in my ear and said ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
This was the day after she was pulled! Well, I bought her and went to visit her for an hour every day for the next 3 weeks till she was weaned. After about a week, I was feeding her some millet spray out of my hand while she was sitting on my finger. I made some kissy noises at her. She got that 'epihany look' if you know what I mean, grabbed a millit seed and put it in my mouth. She thought I was asking her for a bite. Loves to ride on my shoulder, crawl under my t-shirt, and get into absolutly everything. but hates to be handled or petted in anyway. I can rub her beak and toes usually, and occasionally her cheek or even her belly once in awhile. |
