I have an older breeding pair also. I absolutely adore them. They are so cute in the morning too because I open all the windows and they just beep while they eat their breakfast. The male makes a sound like WEEE-OOOOOH. He's so sweet. A previous poster is correct though, they aren't exactly like owning a larger parrot such as a quaker. They don't much like being handled but they are pretty docile like my bourkes. I feed all my birds the same things, seeds, pellets, veggies, etc. I find that the grasskeets love mashed sweet potatos, but do prefer parakeet seed.
