Unhappy Recovering Rosella Pictures.

hi,this is the surviving rosella that i posted about last week, she seems to have responded well to the antibiotics and now seems to be eating and getting stronger although she still has a sneeze every now and then ,he gave her to me on sunday because he decided to get another bird that wasnt sick!!!!!:( .he moved on pretty fast when it didnt work out and im not impressed at all but i was worried she would just be forgotten about so i took her, anyway she seems to be doing ok now,i had to clip her nails today because they were getting caught on the sides of the cage and it seemed to stress her out a lot but i was worried she would hurt her toes or get stuck, she is still very thin but i think she has put on a little bit of weight since she went to the vet,i have been putting her outside in the sun for a couple of hours every other day too so hopefully it will do her some good,i gave her some new toys and put some ropes and birch branches to chew and perch on and she plays a lot with the toys and has been singing a lot too,she is in the living room at the moment away from my ringneck who is upstairs for the time being, anyway i just thought you might like to have a look at her.

She certainly is gorgeous! I hope she pulls through for you!

I'd be ashamed too if a family member of mine did something similar (which they have... although different circumstances)

some people just think of animals as objects and dont think of the harm they can do by buying them on impulse,i have taken in lizards and a terrapin from him before too,he just seems to buy animals on impulse and not think about the fact that they can suffer if they arent looked after properly, his new bird is a redrump parakeet and he is already talking about getting a female for it and breeding them,no thoughts of what might go wrong or what he is going to do with any of the chicks he might end up with!!
i really hope she makes it too but im not too confident yet.

Good job being her guardian angel. That's so sweet that she's playing with her toys even though she doesn't feel very good. Is that what color the females always are? She sure is pretty. I was wondering because of one that I have been seeing at my Petsmart. He must be a male. He has the red on his face.
Keep us posted on her progress. She has to sense that you care about her, and I think that will encourage her to get better for you.

Rosellas come in a variety of colors... I don't know much about rosellas (thank you Encyclopedia of Parakeets!) but this may help....

And here's some pages with rosella mutations... I love the rubinos and blues!

i'm glad to hear she's doing better... it's sometimes hard to deal with family or friends who have a completely different attitude towards animals.... well, i guess we just have to face it - we're different

thanks for the support, its much appreciated, she is a pale headed rosella and i think they are also called mealy rosellas too,i dont know how to tell the sexes apart so i just assumed that she was female because she was smaller than the other one,i think the other one had red on his face but im not sure so maybe that is how to tell them apart, she was trying to take a bath in her water bowl today even though she could barely fit in it and she seems to have forgiven me for clipping her nails too!!,she seemed really perked up after her bath so thats a good sign!! :)

Thanks Monica for showing all the types and mutations! I had no idea.
I'm glad to hear she seems to be feeling good today. I always feel better after a bath too!

Those were all the species read about in the encyclopedia, which didn't include subspecies names...

I saw a few different species at a bird expo (golden mantled, pale headed, crimson, blue crimson, and I can't recall if there were any others) and I just loved listening to their voices! They are so gorgeous! As were some of the grass keets they had!

I can definitely see why there are people so attracted to them!

Monica- Would you please quit it? You're making me want the one at Petsmart more and more. Just kidding. I'll leave him there so as not to further the bird mills' cause. Thanks for all the info. about them.
fluffy_stitch- How's your's doing?
