Wanting to handfeed Scarlet Chested babies

The oldest one is 10 day and eyes are open. I know that they fledge rather rapidly. Should I go ahead and pull the first two? 10 and 8 days old?

I am an experienced feeder but this is the first time for these babies. I feed lovies.

Thank you!

I pulled all my parrotlet babies at 10 days and when my scarlets chesteds go i will do the same. Watch their beaks are softer and way more sensitive to being pushed to growing wrong. Use a tiny tip. I would pull them if they were mine. Where are you,lol I want more!

Thank you SO much Lori~D! I will be pulling them tomorrow! :) I only use pipettes to feed. To me, they are easier and can throw them out after each feeding. Also, small tiped. ;)

LOL! I am in Ohio. You should see my female! She is exceptional! She is not dull like most females for she has such brilliant blue on her head and wings (much like the lighter, iridescent blue in the male) and she even has some orange and RED on her belly and upper part of her legs. She is gorgeous! Have not seen one like her. :) She has only had one other clutch (last year) and was her first ever. She laid 6 eggs and only one hatched and the baby was as brilliant as the parents at 2 months old. SO pretty! I did not hand feed that little one, but want to these.

Thank you again so very much!

Congrats spiritwolf! All our scarlet hens are on strike right now. Only our bourke's are being productive. Good luck with your new babies and send us some pics!

Thank you very much! I sure will get some pics and put them on here for you.

I LOVE the bourkes, too! There is something about their eyes that just makes me want to stare at them. lol They are gorgeous birds!

We have the one pair of Australian grasskeets, 7 pair of lovies (opalines and violets), a Gongo African Grey (my baby!) and one pair of very young p'let's.

We just love them all! My husband had never been around birds and when we got them (I did this as a hobby years ago and just started again about a year and a half ago) he fell in love. He helps with the handfeedings and gets the little ones out and kisses all over them along with me. We really enjoy them very much. There is nothing like it, is there?
