Bluebonnet (pics)

Has anyone got these birds?

-because you dont know what your missing out on ,
they are really playful, charactable birds. And although they lack much bright colour- the grey, gold, red and lemon yellow as well as the violet-blue hood works for me in looks for this bird.

here is my pair

Wow, very interesting and beautiful. They look like someone took water colors and painted a coloring book picture!

I think they are very beautiful! I enjoy the more understated colors.

they have pretty colors, I love the vibrant red/yellow and splash of blue against the muted color. Are they friendly? They look very lively and playful.

the colours are nice and different to the normal, bright rainbow parrots on birdkeepers collections.
They are very playful, good guess. They are charactable and bob there heads up and down for hours and hours during the day.
they have a personality very much simerlar to kakarikis, except for the chicken like characteristics lol.

true Kakarikis are very chicken-like! My Kakariki's don't make good indoor cage birds, they need a lot of area to play in. I have them loose in a room with nets and open cage so it's quite a mess to clean. Maybe if I start planning now we can build an aviary next spring. Sounds like bluebonnets are very enjoyable in that setting. I enjoy reading your experiences with aviary birds.

I met a very friendly handraised bluebonnet today, he was very chirpy and friendly and I can see they would make fantastic pets as well as aviary birds!
Their colouring is very unusual, I love the smokey grey/black and how it contracts with the blue yellow and red.
They almost look like colourful parrots that have been rolling around in ash!
