Unhappy Dottie Schira - An Angel has Passed - Bird Placement Program now CLOSED

Dottie Schira, of the Bird Placement Program , has passed on 6/5/07 of cancer complications/heart failure. All of her rescue organizations, including BPP, are now closed. She rescued dogs, sugar gliders, horses, etc. It was her wish that BPP closes at her passing. I worked with her as Assistant Director for over 20 years and she was a dear friend of mine. We will all miss her dearly.

****************

PS: For Everyone's Info: Since a registered nonprofit organization cannot be passed onto any person or family member, her daughter, Amber may be using Dottie's old paperwork, or may be claiming to have worked with BPP. Amber never has been a member or Associate of BPP. After June 2007, if anyone claims to be rescuing birds, or using any paperwork with the BPP name on it, please be advised that your parrot or fee will not be going to this organization. Feel free to purchase parrots from anyone you wish, but beware of people who claim to be what they are not.

Birds from BPP

Thank you for your concern. I do not know for sure. There were not many birds left in Dottie Schira's care since she was very sick. Her daughter Amber has "taken them over". Dottie had a few of her own parrots too. Amber has been selling some. The IRS has rules for closed nonprofit organizations, I tried to explain these rules, but Amber was too young to understand what this meant. My advice was met with her hostility, I am sad to say......

how about sending me some more info on the situation.

The death of the founder does not mean the org has to be shut down, the family or board can keep it up and running in most cases as long as they follow the rules of the IRS and fill out the correct paperwork.

I dont have a clue about what is going on there, i am just posting a little information on how this stuff works

Closing

It was Dottie's choice to close BPP at her passing. This is not up for disscussion, I am sorry. I merely posted a notice about Dottie's passing for those who may have known her and were not aware.

ljhassell -- I did not understand your post, but that is OK cause I am new here

Take care, all.

Up for discussion?

totally rude.

i will find out the truth about whats going on and until then your story about her daughter, the birds, etc is just a rumor/lie

Ps: what is the reason for your disclaimer? to protect yourself against slander?
If so you better check the laws because it wont help if your post is not true.

if what you say is true then you dont need a disclaimer and that is not up for discussion.

My reply to YOUR rude email is a moot point. Translation: My last post means "I do not owe you any more info" I tried to be nice. Your last comment toward me was totally unwarranted.

My disclaimer applies to all of my chat posts for people such as you. Please read over my disclaimer again. You will see it all over the internet now.....
