Parrot Drives Owner Nuts By Copying His Last 5 Ringtones!

FED-UP Stuart McNae has had to change his mobile phone ringtone five times – because his parrot keeps copying them.

Cheeky pet Billy waits until he leaves the room, mimics the sound of a call – then laughs when he dashes back to answer.

Every time Stuart, 54, changes his ringtone the blue-fronted Amazon just relearns it.

He has gone through the Nokia theme, Lou Bega’s Mambo Number 5, the BBC Match of the Day tune, Soul Limbo by Booker T and the MGs and Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry.

The bus firm worker, of Hudders-field, West Yorks, said: “I now have the theme from A Fistful of Dollars. Won’t be long before he’s got that, too.

“He waits for me to leave the room before he does it. I’ll rush downstairs to find it’s Billy.”

I love this - they should call this story "Parrot manages to train owner to come when called." He's reinforcing the behavior by rushing to answer his phone. If he waited to see if there was a standard interval between rings, he'd be able to tell the difference between the phone and Rocky.

Of course, he might not want to give up the exercise. This could just be the parrot's way of making sure his master is physically fit.

Our Grey does just that. He's got the old cell phone ring down to a tee.... Next time he gets into his "ringing" mood. I'll see if I can capture it on video (just last night he "rang" for almost an hour straight).

Besides that he's got a few other "interesting noises"
  • Kisses... of course, what fid doesn't learn that one?
  • A motor cycle ... yup... we have a rumbling bird!
  • A train whisle... we live within 600yds of a very active rail way :(
  • A water bottle ... It's great we never have to refill it... LOL!
  • Microwave... Ya... beep, beep, beep...
  • Fart Noises... Ok... Honestly we did NOT teach him that.. he must've heard it from one of his previous parents (we're his third and he's only 3ys old, I think we'll keep him)!
  • A bomb drop whisle... Ya... I tough him that... and even an explosion at the end.. :)
  • Clicking noises... they're very distinct.. almost sounds like a gun being "cocked"... no clue where he got that from.
  • Wolf whisles... ya he thinks the misses is dead sexy!
  • An ambulance siren ... well something like that.. maybe it's more of a space ship sound???? Has the fid seen proof of aliens?
He's got a good vocabulary to0.. but I'll leave all that for another post. I'll just note the "sounds" in this post.

Honesly his fart noises... he does those the most! Maybe he's actually farting... Peeee Euuuuw! . Myself I never fart... the couch is just.... squeaky!
