Wingwise:The Feather Distribution Project
Busy day yesterday... boxed up all the shed feathers to send. Brought up the site address and saw that they weren't taking any more requests from groups for feathers this year, so I called and asked if they were taking donations yet.
The young lady assured me that they were.
Got an email back from the Doc to say thanks, to show me a pic of his second chance bird, Chip who is now 13 (harlequin macaw) and let me know that donations have been down this year, so they are waiting to fill requests from the Native Indians.
The box I sent measured 12"x12"x 91/2' .... some of those long tail feathers had to be curled a bit to fit....
So, if you are looking for a place to help out, ... how many of us just can't 'see' throwing these wonderful gifts from our flocks away?.... They would be very appreciative!

Got a lovely letter back from them, letting me know that the gw's feathers will be going to the Zuni Pueblo in western New Mexico for their Sha'lako ceremony. The B&G's will also be going to the Santo Domingo and Acoma Pueblos in NM, also for winter ceremonies. The grey's, cockatiel's and sun conure's will be going to a Denver Co chruch group for ceremonial fans and other objects....
What a great way to spread the giving of our wonderful charges!!
