Sign petition for ASPCA to acknowledge 3rd most popular pet
Please join me in signing (and also pass this far and wide) a petition in an attempt to make the ASPCA educate the public on homeless, abused birds. We all see their commercials with Sarah Maclachlin singing and the sad dog and cat faces - they always choke me up. They also make me sad for the avians who have no strong representation for them. Please help me encourage the ASPCA to take action.

Thank you for posting this petition. I think it is important for the message to hit a wider audience. It would be great for additional education to hit the public BEFORE they buy at Petsmart or Petco.
I just picked up a bird tonight who was purchased from a Petsmart. Another Jenday Conure. The bird loved the lady and she loved him. He had a great diet, great cage, good toys...but a loud voice that the family could not stand and so he had to go. I am so tired of seeing the conures in the chain stores...there are not enough homes for them...maybe there are enough people to purchase them as babies, that is obviously true...but not enough people who can live with the noise. There does need to be a better balance of information. If you know what you are getting into that is one thing, but seriously enough is enough. Why hasn't anyone else posted on this thread?

I definitely agree on information being better for people considering buying birds, especially the louder species. People always seem to look at the color factor before really understanding the noise factor or how much time and effort it takes to feed and care for these little guys.
