Man Kills Grey with BB gun

Police: Randolph man's parrot annoyed him, so he shot it | dailyrecord.com | Daily Record

I'm working on a petition to send to the courts.............ya'll care to voice your opinions to the judge who will be handling this?
Lets show them that we will not stand for this type of abuse.

I wrote to the newspaper...and this is what i was told:
Hi,
I don't know much about Mr. Zeglin except that he is retired and is an alcoholic. He was intoxicated when he shot the parrot 3 times with a BB gun.
I don't know if he will have a trial. He has applied for admission into what is called the Pre-Trial Intervention program. That's for first-time offenders. If accepted, they are put on probation, pay some fines and maybe do some community service. If they don't violate any conditions of probation, the charge is dismissed from their record and he or she would not have a conviction. We have had a few animal cruelty cases in the past and PTI is usually what happens in those cases.

I think that they should give him community service in several Bird Santuaries doing the "dirty" jobs such as cleaning poop on perches, cleaning the cages, etc....all while being supervised because who could trust that SOB! Then shoot him with a a few rounds of BB's on his buttocks (rather say something else but not sure if I would be reprimanded)!

I agree with asulli. Except we can substitute the buttocks with his front side and shoot repeatedly until he passes out. Then repeat.

LOL... Probably.

With someone predisposed to violence it only creates a cycle of further violence, but I do understand the sentiment....

We have what is called "Restorative Justice", which sounds similar. It is usually awesome with first time offenders.

I am assuming the PTI will also implement detox/addictions counselling and anger management into his sentence. How messed up do you have to be to do something like that to a family member of 20 years. Blech!!!!

That poor baby that took the brunt of his sick mind. It makes me feel ill. Fly free little one!

What a disturbing story. I wish they would have said if the family was upset or not, it didnt really say in the story if the mother & son were upset @ the loss of their pet. The mother called police so she mustve felt some sort of anger/remorse - I know she wasnt present during the shooting.

I am more disturbed by some of the comments readers left under the story. Jokes and such. It angers me to see such things. Animals are just as important as people, they shouldn't be joked about in death - its disgusting.

Sydney,

Sometimes outrage is masked with jokes. I'm sure no one meant anything offensive or is taking this lightly.
