Woman answers ad for bird by offering kids as payment

I hope the kids and the bird have better luck finding good homes this time around.

Woman answers ad for bird by offering kids as payment

"Paul and Brandy Romero advertised that they were selling their pet cockatoo for $1,500.

A woman named Donna Greenwell responded and said she wanted to buy the bird. Greenwell then told the Romeros that she was taking care of three children whose biological parents were going through a separation.

Greenwell proposed selling two of the couple's children to the Romeros for $2,000, saying that her job as a truck driver made it hard to take care of the children, said Capt. Keith Dupre of the Evangeline Parrish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana.

The parties allegedly negotiated a trade involving the two kids, the bird and $175." (more at link)

Yeah, this happened back in February. The woman trying to sell the children was babysitting them while the biological parents were going through a separation. It's bad enough to try to sell your own kids, but to try to sell someone else's kids? lol, It takes all kinds.

And she basically gets away with it?!? I just don't get the legal system, I am sorry but trying to trade kids for a cockatoo is just so wrong. Although now hopefully the kids and the bird do get great new homes, how sick.

That is disgusting. Even worse that someone actually took that deal. Who in their right mind would be like "OK!! That sounds great, I'll take the 2 kids". Wow.

From the sounds of it the kids were better off with the couple that traded their bird for them, they were well taken care of there. It wasn't right to say the least especially since they werent even the womens children to trade. But I am glad that the birth parents have been made aware of the situation and hope the kids are doing well. And eventually go back to their birth parents.
