Newbie to board and breeding

Hi All,

This is my first day here and I am about to venture into the hobby of breeding cockatiels and canaries! I have a 3m cage on order and have 3 pairs of cockatiels and 2 pair of canaries awaiting for its installation!!

My cockateils are beautiful, I know two of them are white faces with grey black and white markings. The other two Im not sure about but the current owner said they are a split and they have black outlines ie comb and dappled grey white and black feathers. I will be getting a cinamon pearl and dont remember what her mate is in a couple of weeks.

I also have a yellow lutino who will be getting a mate too. How do you sex the yellow ones? He/She is all yellow with white tail feathers no markings and bright orange cheeks.

Canary Breeding

All I can say is don't put the canaries in the same cage as the cocatiels.
I'm a canary breeder myself and am going to go on my fourth year next year. You will love the young males you can get. Oh yes I should wish you luck.

Yes, as June said: DO NOT put breeding canaries in with the Tiels.

I'm showing my dumb blonde-ness here but what does a 3m cage translate to in length x width x heigth? :)

My parents have had breeding canaries and cockatiels together for years with no problems. Ill see how it goes, might end up putting them in the smaller aviary.

3m - 3m x 1.5m

His cage is a little smaller then 10 feet x 10 feet x5 feet. Sorry, I don't remember the conversion formula so I can't say what the size is exactly. I'm old.

Third dimension? Height? Height = 1.8m (5 feet or maybe more)
