Red Bellied Parrots

I have two Red Bellied Parrots. The female, Moya is about 10 years old. The male, Fred is about 3. We had the Female for 3 years when we decided to get her a friend. The problem is that she seems to hate him. She freaks when he's near. She wants nothing to do with him. It's been over a year now and nothing has changed. Any suggestions?

if its been that long, and they still havent taken to each other, sorry to say, but it will prob never happen :( some birds just arent compatible and never will be, just like some humans will never get along no matter what.

are you trying to breed them?? how do you have their cages set up?? another reason she might hate him is cause they are jealous. if they are both tame pets and they dont get along, they prob get jealous of each other, when you hold one of them, the other will be all jealous, and when you hold the other one, that one will be jealous too. they prob feel like they have to compete with each other for your attention.

They are in separate cages across the room. Moya I can hold and do anything with. Fred should have been born a chicken. He's scared of everything. He loves Moya and just wants to be with her. He doesn't like being held. Moya wants nothing to do with him. We did think about breeding them but were more interested at this point just to have Moya accept Fred.

you might wanna try putting their cages next to each other and see if she takes to him. just keep in mind that if you do get them to like each other, they might loose their tameness and they (she) might become aggressive or fearful towards you.
